Tutorial for WebDesk
Welcome to WebDesk, the secure and customizable kiosk browser for macOS.
This guide will help you configure and use WebDesk to create the perfect browsing environment for your needs, whether for employee workstations, or digital signage.
1. Initial Setup
When you first launch WebDesk, it will open en empty view. To access the settings and configure the application, navigate to the application menu or click the Settings button:
WebDesk > Settings (or press ‘Cmd + Option + P’
The Settings window is your command center for customizing WebDesk.
2. Customizing the Interface
Make WebDesk look and feel native to your use case.
Toolbar Editor - WebDesk features a fully customizable toolbar.
1. Go to Settings > Toolbar Editor.
2. You will see a drag-and-drop interface.
3. Drag items like Back, Forward, Home, Refresh, and Print into the toolbar area.
4. Arrange them to suit your needs.
5. To remove an item, click the delete button.
Status Bar
Configure the information displayed at the bottom of the screen in Settings > Status Bar.
3. Browsing Experience
Favorites
Set up quick access links for your users.
1. Go to Settings > Favorites.
2. Add new favorites by entering a Title and URL.
3. Users can access these from the Favorites menu or a dedicated Favorites page.
4. URL Control
Configure URL Blocking or navigational restrictions to keep users on approved sites.
5. Security settings
You can protect access to preferences with a password and disable some features.
6. iCloud sync
You can deploy the same settings to many workstations using Apple iCloud sync services.
A license for multiple computers is required.
